A (Temporary) New Me

I had my haircut yesterday. Normally, I have very curly, almost frizzy hair. But I suspect the hairdresser didn't have an appointment after mine, so she straightened my hair, pretty much just for the fun of it.

I think I like it, although I'm not sure I'd want to look like this all the time as it's not the me I'm used to. Although I did suddenly discover that I look a lot more like my cousin than I ever thought I did.

Marcus came home from daycare and took one look at me before saying, "You look different". He rather quickly decided he didn't like it - I think I didn't look like his mummy anymore, which must be rather disconcerting at four. So I had to promise I'd get my curls back.

When we all got up this morning and I still had straight hair, he was most unhappy. So I had to promise to go and wash my hair so that my curls would return. I have done so and I'm his curly-haired mummy again, which has made him happier.

All the same, it was fun to see what I would look like with straight hair.

Wow, Kerry, you really do look different! I like it, but I also understand the amount of work it would take to make it look at way every day. And I can definitely see why it would be disconcerting to a child. According to family legend, my uncle had worn a beard for years, and he decided to shave it off when my cousin was 3. She took one look at him and burst into tears, screaming "that's not my daddy!" Thank goodness your experience wasn't quite as dramatic! LOL

Yes, you do look different :) It's nice - but so much effort! I had my hair straightened once for fun. It took an hour and by the end of the day it was curling again. Just not meant to be :)

I love it when my hair is straight, but I totally cannot be bothered to do it myself! I bought a straightener years ago, and think I have used it maybe half a dozen times if that. Couldn't even tell you where it is at this point!

LOL. Kerry, about 18 months ago, I cut 18 inches off my hair. It went from long and straight to a short, shaggy, multi-layered cut. The stylist spiked the back (where it was the shortest), and had my bangs covering one eye (can't stand hair in my face). When my son got homje from school he looked and looked but didn't say a thing. I finally asked him what he thought about my haircut. He said I looked freaky, LOL. Katie just looked shocked, but didn't cry.
