The Alpine Garden Progress

I had pretty much decided to switch to beads in the place of the charted French knots in this. But then when I was stitching today I saw just how many there were for the "veronica" band and faced up to the fact that it really would look better done with French knots. So I chose to ignore the instructions that said use 1 strand of thread, threaded up my needle with two strands and tried again. Today must have been a good day as I've managed to do all the French knots for the whole design. There were a few cases where I had an extra knot or had to carefully untwist one that had gone wrong, but I'm really pleased with how it has turned out.

Since I was adding extra dimension, I also added the charm and the beads and it is looking really nice.

I got one more band stitched as well tonight. I now have just one to go and the design is finished. I can't quite believe I'm this close to being done on a second finish after completing nothing for so long.

Your Alpine Garden is looking awesome!

I would lean towards using beads instead of the dreaded knots. Kudos to you for you perservering through them all!

You're making a super job of this Kerry!

Your french knots are so neat too. You'ver really got the hang of them.

Hi Kerry,

It's been awhile since I last visited your blog and I can see that you've been busy.

Congratulations on your finish of Alpine Seasons, which looks amazing. Such a lot of work goes into these pieces. I don't know if I'd have the patience or the fortitude to hang in there and get it all done.

Alpine Garden is lovely too, and all those numerous, dainty single stitches that make up each flower, not to mention the french (ugh!!) knots, means a lot of work.

These two designs will make a nice set displayed together. Is that your intention to do someday??

I see you've been reading a few books that I also have enjoyed. I love the Thursday Next books by Jasper Fforde too. I got the new one when it came out but haven't read it yet. Otherwise I've read all the books in this series.

You listed The Copper Crown by Patricia Kennealy (Morrison) as a book to read in the "Here Be Dragons" challenge, and I can't recommend this series enough.

I've read it a couple of times actually. Kennealy is an amazing author, with a good eye for character creation, and also for dreaming up worlds, and their histories. Sadly, it would appear that she's abandoned writing since it's been years since I've seen anything new published by her, or even heard any news of her.

I always enjoy your Marcus stories, and got a great kick out of the one about him using the screw driver to remove a screw from the bathroom door handle. Oh dear. And there are so many things around the house that are held together with screws. Good luck with that Kerry.

Also enjoyed the scrapbook page of pictures showing Marcus washing his car. And the picture of him watching tv....upside down on the couch. Ah, little boys.

Cheers!
